San Juan
June 23rd. 2012
Midsummer in Catalonia is celebrated with a big bang, as fireworks fill the sky in a prelude to the national holiday of the Feast of John the Baptist. Each neighbourhood stages fireworks and all night bonfires are fueled by collections of old furniture, but the biggest celebration is at Monjuice in Barcelona, with a fabulous firework display and a colossal bonfire. It's well worth a trip to Barcelona for this one, to watch the fireworks, then go on to the biggest gay beach party of the year!

 Fiesta Mayor
Fiesta Mayor
August 21st to 27th. (Firework display on the 23rd.)
This carnival is worth seeing! 'Fiesta Mayor' means 'Main Carnival', and it really is! The total disrespect for safety is what makes it so exciting. Fire crackers are being lit left, right and center and aimed in every direction. The dragons which have fire crackers in their mouths even chase you! You'll see most people are wearing straw hats, that's to make sure their eyes don't get burned out!

 Sitges Zombie Walk
Sitges Zombie Walk
October 14th. 2012 8:30pm
An event that has really taken off, with hundreds of participants. You can get made up for free at the Miramar building and the walk begins at 8:30pm, going from the Miramar building, past the church to Playa de la Ribera where a Zombie disco is held.
Its a great chance for you to look your worst and to practice your zombie acting skills as you trudge along the promenade to the horror of thousands of spectators. I can see this event becoming world renowned in years to come.

 Carnival
Sitges Carnival
February 6th to 13th. 2013. Parades 10th & 12th.
For over 100 years, Sitges has been celebrating Carnival. Sitges goes crazy with activity. In fact, its often said that Sitges Carnival is the wildest pary on Earth, and certainly, if you've been to it, you'll know why. The two most important moments of Sitges Carnival are the Rua de la Disbauxa, or the Debauchery Parade, on Sunday night and the Rua de l‘Extermini, or Extermination Parade, on Tuesday night. Some forty-odd floats with more than 2,000 participants leave a jam-packed Sitges completely awe stricken. If you've never been, although it can be pretty cold, so bring a sweater, it's actually when Sitges is at it's busiest. All of the bars, restaurants, shops etc., open during carnival.
